Irrigation systems have come a long way since we first began installing them in 1951. At every turn, Petty’s has remained ahead of the curve, installing the most efficient sprinkler system on the market. This is especially critical now, as Texas is already the second largest state by population and the fastest growing state in the nation (per US Census Bureau 2013 population estimates). Combine a large, quickly expanding population with record breaking heat and drought, and you can see why installing smart, water-efficient, automatic irrigation systems has never been more important than it is right now. So that begs the question, how does Petty’s deal with the challenges of meeting the demands of landscape irrigation while reducing water waste?

There are few things that rival the beauty of nature. And, more often than not, our human art forms strive to replicate that aesthetic appeal. The ornamental landscaping we surround our homes with is, for the most part, an imitation of the natural. According to one of the most well known landscape architects, it is the purpose of the landscape architect/designer to provide,
With that in mind, Petty’s strives to provide our customers with that same sense of enjoyment every time they arrive home. Imagine pulling in your driveway and a beautiful landscape always there to greet you. Besides personal enjoyment, properly designed and installed landscaping can greatly enhance the value of your property. Petty’s goes to great lengths to install landscaping that will stand the test of time. We start with knowledgeable designers who are experienced in the Texas environment. We pay special attention to the preparation of the soil by eliminating weeds, enriching the soil, and considering drainage implications. We recommend and source trees, shrubs and plants that are proven in our East Texas region. We do all of this while considering the visual appearance and future maintenance to ensure a landscape that will perform wonderfully long after we have completed all of the work. Let Petty’s design and install landscaping for you that will survive the intense Texas environment and bring you pleasure any time you venture outdoors.
No landscape installation is complete until drainage has been considered. Most drainage and run-off should be dealt with by properly grading the landscape to allow water to flow naturally on the surface where the water can percolate into the soil or find its way into a natural body of water. With that said, our modern environment does not always allow for grading alone to solve drainage issues. In many situations, constructed elements (house, road, driveway, sidewalk, retaining wall, etc.) block the natural flow of water altogether or dictate a landscape so flat that water can only sit in the low areas until it saturates the soil. For situations like these, surface drains, french drains, dry creek beds, pump systems, and/or permeable pavers might be an ideal solution. Our expert staff can help you determine the best solution for your property.
To further reduce your headache when developing your landscape, Petty’s Irrigation & Landscape can provide all of your hardscape needs as well. Maybe you need more space to entertain or an easier path around the house. Maybe you have a slope that needs to be tamed or a way to shade your patio. Whatever you need, Petty's can provide the solution. We have excellent masons, craftsmen, and designers that can develop the perfect natural stone, paver, concrete, lumber or other hardscape solution. Our staff also maintains constant training and education, holding certifications from ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) and NCMA (National Concrete Masonry Association). Landscape lighting is a quickly evolving segment of landscaping in general. In the past, low-voltage (LV) lighting has been a frustrating venture for many homeowners as traditional LV fixtures have proven to be a source of constant maintenance. Current technology is now providing opportunities to accent and light landscapes in ways that have not been possible before. LV lighting is now shifting to primarily LED’s instead of traditional bulbs. The LED fixtures utilize far less energy (70% less in most cases), provide consistent light quality/intensity, longer bulb life (35,000-50,000 hours), and allow for many more options when designing your system (due to power consumption/needs). Let a Petty’s professional consult with you on your LED LV lighting design and we can even connect your lighting controls to your irrigation controller for ease of use.
